Clippers Slay The Dragons!

The Yarmouth Clippers took on the Brunswick Dragons Saturday afternoon, January 18th on home ice at NYA. This was a very important game for both teams in the Class B South Division. Brunswick (7-5-0), ranked higher, was coming off 4 straight wins. The Clippers (5-3-0) had been gaining momentum of their own with back-to-back wins and were looking to jump Brunswick in the standings.

After no score in the first period, the Clippers got on the board with 8:26 remaining in the 2nd period.  Will Giese scored out in front from a nice pass from Isaac Grondin in the corner.  The game remained tight for the rest of the 2nd period and most of the third period until the Clippers scored again with 4:29 remaining in the game.  Aidan Miller scored a power play goal from the slot with assists from Spencer King and Grondin.  The Clippers iced the game with an open net goal scored from deep in the defensive zone by Will Giese with 0:36 seconds remaining.  Oliver Prinn assisted on the open net goal.

The Clippers likely played their best most complete game keeping Brunswick scoreless in the game.  As usual, Charles Henry Watson was solid in net, but unlike some other games, he did not need to work as hard to get the win.   Yarmouth outshot Brunswick 17 to 16 in the game.

CH in control

Next game is Monday, January 20th at 1PM at NYA verse the Cape Elizabeth Capers. Looking forward to that one!
