Captains Cooper May ’18 and Dan Latham ’18 led the way in the Clippers’ 1-0 win over Gorham. May scored a Crosbyesque, highlight-reel goal for Yarmouth’s only tally and Latham continued his stellar play in turning away 23 shots. Yarmouth travels to the Ice Vault on Saturday, January 20th to take on Gardiner. Game time is 7:40 pm.

Yarmouth dominated the first period, but could not find the back of the net. The second period was a far different story as Gorham ramped up their physical play and the Clippers largely failed to respond. However, Cooper May came to the rescue when he bounced a shot from behind the net off the Gorham goaltender’s back for the one-goal lead. Spencer King ’20 was credited with the assist.

Late in the second period, Cooper May had his legs taken out and went hard into the end boards. The impact was violent and there was some concern in the stands, but May was able to skate to the bench under his own power and did not miss a shift.

Gorham poured it on in the third period as they outshot Yarmouth 11-8, but the Clippers were saved by strong goaltending from Latham. While a man-down in the closing seconds, Spencer King showed his hockey IQ as he froze the puck along the boards in Yarmouth’s defensive zone to run out the final seconds of the game.
