Yarmouth had an inauspicious start to the season with a 6-1 loss to York at Travis Roy Arena. A series of undisciplined penalties and defensive breakdowns led to four York goals in the second period and a disappointing result. Yarmouth will look to get back on track this Saturday when they visit Gorham at the Olympic-sized sheet at USM Arena. Game time is 5:50 pm.

The first period was scoreless as each squad struggled to get into a rhythm. In the opening period, the Clippers did a good job of denying York’s speedy forwards scoring opportunities by clogging the neutral zone. The story was very different in the second period.

Undisciplined penalties in the second period put Yarmouth at a disadvantage and a lack of physical play gave York the time and space they needed to score four goals in quick succession. York would also add two more in the third period.

Kurt Heywood ’19 scored Yarmouth’s lone goal late in the third period on a power play. Cooper May ’18 and Sam Marjerison ’19 were credited with the assists. Yarmouth went 1-for-8 on the power play.
