It was not a pretty game for either team, but Yarmouth pulled out a 5-3 win over Gorham for a much-needed victory to bring their record back to even. The Clippers head to Connecticut for two games and then face Gardiner at Travis Roy Arena on Monday, January 2nd at 6:20 pm.
Gorham took an early lead on a power play goal, but Chris Romano responded with a pair of goals. On his first tally, Cooper May dished a pass that left Romano staring at a wide-open net. On his second goal, everyone in the rink thought he would pass to May, but Romano caught Gorham’s Noah Bird leaning with a low shot that gave the Clippers a 2-1 lead after one period.
Gorham evened the score in the second period, but Matt Sanborn took back the lead for Yarmouth with his first Varsity goal off a nice pass from Joe Truesdale.
Gorham battled back and tied the game at the end of the second period, but Cooper May (Travers, Ramsay) picked up the game winner with a pretth goal and Bill Jacobs (Ramsay) added an insurance goal for the victory.
