Varsity Girls Drop Opening Game

The Varsity Girls faced a tough Brunswick Dragons squad and ended up on the short-side of a 7-2 final score.  Despite the loss, the Clippers showed great promise and have a good foundation to build on.

Senior Captain Katie Clemmer netted both goals for the Clippers.  Freshman Sophie Newburg picked up the assist on Clemmer’s first tally and Sophomore Kyaira Grondin and Senior Captain Sydney St. Pierre  were credited with assists on the second goal.

The Clippers dominated play for the the majority of the second period, but were unable to find the back of the net.  Senior Captain Georgia Giese played an excellent, 200 ft game as she provided great pressure in the offensive zone while also playing strong defense in the Clippers’ end.

Sophomore Goalie Isabelle King looked strong in net for her first start.  King made several great saves including turning away a breakaway by Brunswick’s top player and last year’s league-leading scorer.

The Varsity Girls will face Mt. Ararat/Morse on Tuesday, November 29th at Travis Roy Arena.  Game time is 7 pm.
