The Clippers headed north to Bangor for a series of pre-season scrimmages in the John Bapst Faceoff Tournament. Coach St. Pierre put together a number of line combinations, which gave many players their first varsity hockey experience.
In the opening game, goaltender Cameron Libby was tapped for his first start and held Hampden Academy scoreless for the first half of the game. Dom Morrill netted the first pre-season goal with an assist from Cooper May, and May registered a goal of his own for a 2-1 final score.
On Saturday, the Clippers dropped the opening game against Presque Isle by a score of 4-2. Cooper May had an unassisted tally and Chris Romano tipped a shot from Sam Marjerison for the second goal.
In the final game, Yarmouth showed some hop and largely dominated play, but the boys were only able to register two goals for the 2-1 victory over host John Bapst High School. Cooper May scored the first goal with assists from Chris Romano and Tyler Veilleux and Bill Jacobs pulled out the win with an unassisted tally in the last minute of play.
The Junior Varsity team will open up its season on Friday, December 3rd at Casco Bay Arena. Game time is 9:10 pm. The Varsity team will host Cony for its final pre-season game this Saturday, December 3rd at Travis Roy Arena. Game time for the Varsity contest is 4:30 pm.
